Hello! Prior to getting connected with students via NextGuru, most of my tutoring experience had come through my volunteer work at the Rice Street Library Homework Center (STARS) in St. Paul and as a "Big" in a Big Brother Big Sisters program. I worked at STARS for 5 school years where I helped students from kindergarten to college with any homework they brought my way. I was a Big Brother for almost 10 years to a "boy" who is approaching 20 years old now - so there has been all sorts of homework help in that relationship over the years. Although I'm capable assisting in most subjects, I am most comfortable with K-10th grade reading, writing and math. I feel the best asset I bring to the students I help is my patience. I understand that students come from different backgrounds and learn best through different methods. I strive to find the way that each student learns best whether it is how I "normally" teach or not. I like to build confidence in students' abilities and have fun working on subjects that students aren't necessarily comfortable or excited to go at. I hope to meet you soon and see what we can learn together!
"I f you are looking for a tutor that is always on time - always prepared and always pleasant than Chris will work out well for you. My 11 year old son looked forward to his sessions WITH cHRIS . Chris ha a natural and comfortable way with kid and I recommend him highly"

What is a trial class?

Finding the right tutor takes more than a teaching profile page – it requires the right chemistry… Therefore, all our tutor members have agreed to offer new students a trial class to help determine if there’s a great fit. This means no semester-long contracts… just find a tutor, pay the flat NextGuru trial class fee and have a test run!

What happens after the trial?

That’s completely up to you! You have no obligation to continue classes. If you decide to continue, you work out the details (including schedule and payment method) directly with your instructor. If the chemistry wasn’t right, just come back to NextGuru and you can try another instructor…

How does NextGuru get paid?

All instructors are eligible for free membership – this is critical so that you can have the broadest, most diverse selection of teachers possible. Therefore, instead of paying a mandatory membership fee or a commission on lessons, our tutor members have given up their one-time trial class fee to help pay for technology and marketing costs.
