I graduated from The Catholic University of America with a bachelor of music degree in music theatre. I am currently working on my master's in early childhood special education. Music and performing have always been a huge part of my life. I am a strong believer that performing arts are crucial to a child's development and love passing on my love and knowledge of music, dance and theatre. Not only are the performing arts a great learning tool for kids, they also provide an outlet for them to build their own confidence through participation. Performance is a stepping stone toward a strong confidence that will carry a child far in life and help children succeed as they grow older. This past year, I was a literacy tutor for children with downs syndrome and absolutely loved it! I was a nanny for a year and helped the three year old learn his letters, numbers and how to write his name. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a child grow and progress in their understanding of something! I meet students where they are in their ability, passion and confidence. The most important thing is that they first love what they do so they are open to learning more! I love to have fun and always find a way to incorporate that into my lessons.

What is a trial class?

Finding the right tutor takes more than a teaching profile page – it requires the right chemistry… Therefore, all our tutor members have agreed to offer new students a trial class to help determine if there’s a great fit. This means no semester-long contracts… just find a tutor, pay the flat NextGuru trial class fee and have a test run!

What happens after the trial?

That’s completely up to you! You have no obligation to continue classes. If you decide to continue, you work out the details (including schedule and payment method) directly with your instructor. If the chemistry wasn’t right, just come back to NextGuru and you can try another instructor…

How does NextGuru get paid?

All instructors are eligible for free membership – this is critical so that you can have the broadest, most diverse selection of teachers possible. Therefore, instead of paying a mandatory membership fee or a commission on lessons, our tutor members have given up their one-time trial class fee to help pay for technology and marketing costs.
