I am a certified teacher with Masters Degree is Global Affairs and a Bachelors inn Piano. I taught SAT, GRE and NJASAK at Sylvan and Kaplan Learning Centers. I teach critical reading for terms papers, essay writing, and geometry for problem solving. My goal is to show each student how to combine the different knowledge they have into one complete whole which they can apply to virtually all problem solving. I've studied graduate history, economics, psychology, political science, international affairs, social studies, public policy, and more. I teach the Math, Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT/GRE. I've taught English and English as a Second Language in Europe. In university I read a book and write a paper almost each week, and my goal is to teach your child to speed read, take salient notes, and create organized essays, and produce academic work papers quickly and efficiently. Most importantly I try to do this in the way that teachers want (and a high school science teacher wants a different format than a college History teacher does!) I teach weekly lessons in your home, and I offer discounts for people who take weekly lessons. Normally $35-40 for a lesson $20/hr for additional time. I give the same one-on-one service I do when I work for Sylvan and Kaplan Learning Centers but at a cheaper price because you are not paying for a classroom, managers, investors etc., etc.. Thank you, Alexander
"Alex taught all four of my children in their progression through high school. As busy working parents it was really nice to have Alex to teach our kids. He handled all their subjects; moreover he taught them how to teach themselves by examining information themselves, doing research, separating the important form the superfluous, and writing it all down in flowing MLA format. Alex gave my kids the confidence the needed. if they struggled with a subject he was there to do extra research if necessary so as to catch them up and keep them on top. He also helped teach their SATs when it was time and he was there to help with their college essays. Alex believes that education is to make us better people and as for my children it definitely inspired them to make the most of their academic lives. One is now pre-med, another political science, and Andrew and Emily were accepted into NYU. Alex is a college prep teacher, he build skills needed, and we could not have done it without him. "

What is a trial class?

Finding the right tutor takes more than a teaching profile page – it requires the right chemistry… Therefore, all our tutor members have agreed to offer new students a trial class to help determine if there’s a great fit. This means no semester-long contracts… just find a tutor, pay the flat NextGuru trial class fee and have a test run!

What happens after the trial?

That’s completely up to you! You have no obligation to continue classes. If you decide to continue, you work out the details (including schedule and payment method) directly with your instructor. If the chemistry wasn’t right, just come back to NextGuru and you can try another instructor…

How does NextGuru get paid?

All instructors are eligible for free membership – this is critical so that you can have the broadest, most diverse selection of teachers possible. Therefore, instead of paying a mandatory membership fee or a commission on lessons, our tutor members have given up their one-time trial class fee to help pay for technology and marketing costs.
