Currently, I am working on a master's degree in english at Monmouth University. I also have a certificate in Teaching English to Speaker's of Other Languages (TESOL). I have worked as a Writing Assistant for the past year and have tutored student's privately for two years. I have tutored in literature, writing skills (pre-writing, organization, grammar, mechanics, structure),reading, algebra, and pre-algebra. In addition, I have tutored student's preparing for standardized tests, including the GRE, SAT, Accuplacer, and GED. The ages of my student's have ranged from 11 to adult learners in their 50's. When teaching students it is important to understand that each will learn differently; therefore, it is effective to appropriately assess the student and plan to use strategies that fit the learner's style. When tutoring, I discuss the plan and strategies that I think will be the best for the student with the student and the parent so that everyone is agreeable. I also feel that it is important to have the student take an active role in his or her education and be able to voice when material being taught is not understood or when he or she feel's the way the material is being taught is not working.
"Kristina worked with my son on his SAT preperation and was great! She was always on time, never cancelled, and was patient with him!"

What is a trial class?

Finding the right tutor takes more than a teaching profile page – it requires the right chemistry… Therefore, all our tutor members have agreed to offer new students a trial class to help determine if there’s a great fit. This means no semester-long contracts… just find a tutor, pay the flat NextGuru trial class fee and have a test run!

What happens after the trial?

That’s completely up to you! You have no obligation to continue classes. If you decide to continue, you work out the details (including schedule and payment method) directly with your instructor. If the chemistry wasn’t right, just come back to NextGuru and you can try another instructor…

How does NextGuru get paid?

All instructors are eligible for free membership – this is critical so that you can have the broadest, most diverse selection of teachers possible. Therefore, instead of paying a mandatory membership fee or a commission on lessons, our tutor members have given up their one-time trial class fee to help pay for technology and marketing costs.
