I like to think that the experience of learning a language is akin to learning to swim in a river. Many students wade playfully in the shallow waters of simple greetings like "gracias" and "bonjour," but when they think they have gained the confidence to swim in deeper waters without solid instruction, they are swept away and overwhelmed by the currents of cumbersome vocabulary and complex verb conjugation. Discouraged, they retreat to the shore, left only to imagine the destination of the torrents. As your tutor, I will carefully help you to develop your language skills so that each lesson is a confident step to the next. I have 2 years of experience tutoring Spanish and French, and 4 years of experience assisting at an arts camp for kids ages 6-11. I took AP Spanish in high school and received a 5 on the exam, and have been studying French at OCC and independently for the past 2 years. I can also tutor any of the subjects in which I'm certified, in addition to SAT and ACT Prep. No matter your experience with the language, I'll help you develop native-like pronunciation through immersion, so that you begin to think in the language; from there, your understanding and expression of the language will grow exponentially.
